Stromboli 1969
Ingrid and I claimed the 1000 meter high volcano at
late evening and spent the night at the rim of the
erupting volcano. The volcanic ash fell on our
covered heads and we could hear the sound like
crushing glass when the molten lava fell on the
ground close to us. We had no tripod and used
supports on rocks to record several seconds of
exposure time. Walking down in the light of a
hand hold torch was not easy, but it was nothing
compared to when we found at that the hostel
was out of water as well as the whole island.
